A Detailed Description of Emulsion and its Types - A Review
Abstract
This article mainly focused on the full description of emulsions, emulsions are defined as thermodynamically unstable systems consisting of one liquid dispersed throughout other in the form of droplets. It is stabilized by adding emulsifiers. There are many sign of instability of emulsion which is creaming, flocculation, coalescence. Paper also describe lots of factors includes in making better emulsions, The basic type of emulsion are oil in water (o/w) and water in oil (w/o) emulsion, multiple emulsion, micro emulsion, nano emulsion are also incorporate in this review. Their characteristics, size range differ from each other and provide better bioavailability and response. It also describes how stable emulsion froms and various test such as dilution test, staining test and conductivity test used for identifying emulsion type. This review paper is an attempt to focus on the comparative aspects like definition, types, formulation, advantages, disadvantages, instability, test, stability of an emulsion.
