Herbs with Hepatoprotective Properties

Abstract


Liver is a vital organ of our body. It is responsible for detoxifying the toxins from the body. Non-hepatitis cases contribute the most for liver diseases. Liver helps in making bile, storing iron, copper, and vitamin A, B and D. There are many liver diseases which include sluggishness of liver, acute viral, drug induced hepatitis and alcoholic liver disease. In order to keep liver healthy, fibre rich diet should be taken. There are many herbs which possess hepatoprotective properties which include Cichorium intybus Linn, Tamarix Dioica Roxb, Salanum nigrum Linn, Rubia cordofolia Linn, Rheum emodi Wall, Cassia occidentalis Linn, Vitex negundo Linn, Foeniculum vulgare Mill, Cuscuta reflexa Roxb, Trianthema portula castrum Linn, Careva arborea Roxb, Plantago major Linn., Rosa damascene Mill, Solanum xanthocarpum, piper nigrum Linn etc. So, it can be said that these herbs can be used individually or can be used in some herbal formulation because of their heptoprotective properties.
