Assessment of Antibacterial Potentialities of Diacetaldehyde Terpenoid Isolated from Curcuma Caesia Roxb. Against a Panel of Pathogenic Bacteria
Abstract
Assessment of antibacterial potentialities of a diacetaldehyde terpenoid was performed in this paper against a panel of pathogenic bacterial strains. This terpenoid was isolated from Curcuma caesia Roxb. and found to have several kinds of biological activities like antibacterial, antifungal and antitumour. In this experiment it was found that the terpenoid can inhibit the growth of bacterium at 150 to 200 μg/ml of concentrations. Hence, this terpenoid can be used as eco-friendly antibacterial medicine.
