Abstract

The nasal route is considered as an alternative route of drug administration for the delivery and targeting drugs safely. The nasal absorption of the drug protects from the degradation of the drug in the gastrointestinal environment and liver metabolism. Eucalyptus oil is an essential oil frequently used for the treatment of common cold and nasal congestion. The microemulsion system of eucalyptus oil will provide effective delivery of the oil to the nasal cavity which will be beneficial for treating various nasal diseases including rhinitis. In the present study, the microemulsion of eucalyptus oil was prepared using polysorbate 80 and characterized. The stability study was performed at various temperature conditions to ensure the suitability of the formulation.
