L. IMMANUEL, Visaga Perumal, Vineeth Chandy

Abstract

Cytisus scoparius is a shrub which is commonly known as scotch broom belonging to the family Fabaceae. The plant has different uses  in medicine were it is used for the oedema and gout treatment. The plant contains different chemical constituents such as alkaloids, flavonoids, isoflavone and the main constituents found in plant is mainly scoparin. There have been various researches done on pharmacological activity of the plant such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, antibacterial, anxiolytic, antidepressant, and cytotoxic activity. Due to presence of certain constituents in different parts of the plant of Cytisus scoparius the plant possess certain uses naturally such as anti-hypertension and cardiac stimulant. The following review has done based on several researches done on the plant Cytisus scoparius.

Keywords
