Abstract

India possesses a diverse range of medicinal herbs due to its unique environmental conditions and varied seasons, which provide an ideal environment for the growth of numerous plant species. One such plant is the tridax procumbens, an annual herb that spreads widely and is native to India. Belonging to the Asteraceae family, it is known as "Ghamra" among the local population and referred to as "coat buttons" in English. Additionally, some Ayurvedic practitioners recognize it by the name "Bhringraj". This herb is commonly found in wastelands and along roadsides. It is extensively utilized in ethnomedicine for the treatment of diverse ailments. The use of plant-derived substances and herbal medicines has garnered significant interest due to their versatile applications. Medicinal plants serve as a valuable source of bioactive compounds that are utilized in both traditional and modern medicine. Despite the availability of modern medicine, there has been a notable surge in the interest and utilization of herbal medicines in recent years. The aim of this study is to develop and evaluate formulations such as ointments, creams, and gels using Tridax procumbens. Medicinal plants are truly nature's gift to humanity, offering an immense potential for the treatment of various diseases. Exploring alternative natural microbial agents, such as plant extracts, is crucial in combating the rise of multidrug-resistant strains.
