Abstract

A new synthesis of benzimidazolyl chalcones derivatives of N1-[4-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl) phenyl] derivatives were synthesized. These compounds have been characterized by detailed IR and NMR spectral analysis and have been screened for their antimicrobial activity in-vitro against bacterial Strains of Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtelis, and fungal strains of Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans were used. Most of the tested compounds exploited potent antimicrobial activity with MIC values in the zone of inhibition in mm, in particular compound 3a, 3d, 3f, 3g and 3h showed remarkable activity toward the bacterial strains and 3b, 3c, and 3d showed remarkable activity towards the used fungi species.Among the tested compound 3g and 3h showing good inhibition.
