Abstract

Lozenges are used for treatment of relief from severe cough, Phargnitis, throat infections, and the common cold. Comparative studies were carried of the herbal lozenges with two different sweetening agents, jaggery and crystal sugar. Herbal Lozenges were prepared using Aloe vera gel, pepper powder, dry ginger powder, clove powder, dried powder of tulasi, mint leaves, Liquorice powder and turmeric as major medicament and palm tree jaggery or crystal sugar served as sweetening agents. Based on trails, we conclude that palm jaggery had better taste masking properties and the formulation had improved characteristics like taste and appearance, The accelerated stability studies of the formulation exhibited the same characters even after 4 months and the formulation did not change any physical or chemical properties. This new research formulation helps to manage throat infections, coughs, and bronchitis without any adverse effects and better taste.
