Abstract

Background: Migraine is defined as one of the most common, chronic neurological disorder with a higher rate of predominance among adults. Objective: The objective of the study is to assess knowledge, attitude, practice and awareness towards migraine among patients in ESI hospital. Method: This was a cross-sectional questionnaire based study conducted to assess the KAP towards migraine treatment and prevention. Result: The level of knowledge among the patients is not satisfactory and even the attitude and practice levels among patients were negative as the health care providers fail to educate the patients about the disease condition, its symptoms, treatment and prevention. Conclusion: The KAP levels of included subjects towards migraine prevention and treatment was significantly inadequate although the included subjects were migraine diagnosed patients. It is an important and a fundamental duty of the health care authorities to ensure that the patients are instilled with adequate knowledge regarding their disease.
