Abstract

Two proprietary siddha medicines such as NiKu plus and S.I.V.A. herbal drops were evaluated for myeloperoxidase (MPO) inhibition by in vitro enzyme assay. The MPO plays an important role in the predisposition of various complications both in diabetes mellitus (DM) and in psoriasis. Both NiKu plus and S.I.V.A. herbal drops showed high inhibitory activity of MPO. The findings suggest that regular use of NiKu and S.I.V.A. is must for patients suffering from DM and psoriasis.
