A Review on Analysis of Cosmetic Raw Materials

Abstract


Cosmetic products must be safe for use by the consumers. The cosmetic raw materials varied in nature. Bureau of Indian Standards has done commendable work in fixing specification for many raw materials used in cosmetics, in order to ensure that the cosmetic raw materials meet the safety requirements. As the qualitative and quantitative analysis is mandatory to certify the raw materials and active ingredients used for the preparation of cosmetics, various methods are described for quantitative analysis of oils and fats, natural waxes, hydrocarbons, fatty acids, fatty alcohols, synthetic glycerides.
