Nishant Shukla

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus reduces life expectancy of patient up to 10 years. Diabetes mellitus has risk of fatal target organ damage leading to complication like diabetic renal disease, retinopathy, cardiac disease, neuropathy, etc. that is believed to be occurring due to vascular changes or endothelial dysfunction. Longevity of the diabetic patients may be increased if these changes are arrested. This change leads to microalbuminuria and therapeutic measures if used well in time to manage endothelial dysfunction help in arresting diabetic complications. As per Acharya Charaka diabetic complication may also be due to Apatarpana changes in the tissue. A few patients that presented with microalbuminuria with diabetes mellitus that were managed with Shatavari—Goskhru yoga along with Mehari yoga i.e., Trifala— Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellarica), Amalaki (embilica officinale), Daruharidra (Berberis aristata), Vishala, Nisha—Haridra (Curcuma longa), and Musta (Cyperus rotundus). Patient responded well with the treatment clinically and biochemical recovery. Cases of diabetic microalbuminuria will be discussed in full in the paper.
