Silver Nanoparticles Biosynthesis Using Grape Extract and Its Application in Photocatalytic Dye Degradation

Dr Harshada Patil, Nikhil Jagatap

Abstract

Abstract

Grapes are known for its antioxidant properties. Aqueous grape extract is used in the current study as a reducing and stabilising agent in the production of silver nanoparticles. Silver nanoparticles were synthesized in single step method, at room temperature, under magnetic stirring without application of external energy. Silver nanoparticles are substantial for its application in numerous areas such as medicine, agriculture, food, chemical sector etc. Synthesis and optimization of silver nanoparticles was carried at different pH and temperature conditions. UV-absorption spectroscopy offered peak at 439 nm, that indicates presence of silver nanoparticles. The silver nanoparticles were analyzed by UV-Visible Spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy and Partial Size Analyzer (PSA). The biosynthesized silver nanoparticles have average particle size of 240 nm with negative zeta potential value of -16.2 mV, that proved stability of silver nanoparticles. 95% photo degradation of methylene blue occurs in 72 hours using silver nanoparticles as catalyst.
