Metallic Impurities Present in Environmental Water Samples Were Analyzed at Trace Levels Using ICP-MS-KED

Abstract

Elemental impurities in environmental water samples must be carefully monitored since they may have unintended pharmacological and toxicological consequences. For the simultaneous determination of eight metals (Cr, Ni, Cd, Pb, Hg, As, Se, and Sb) in water by ICP-MS, an accurate and sensitive approach has been devised and validated. The method's validity is confirmed through assessment of various criteria for new techniques, including linearity and range, accuracy, precision, selectivity, limit of detection (LOD), and limit of quantitation (LOQ). The present approach demonstrates linear behavior across the 1–1000 ppb range, characterized by r2 values exceeding 0.99. The developed method shows accuracy ranging from 97.5 to 101.7% for water samples. When the relative standard deviation (RSD) of the duplicate metal responses (measured in cps) across three concentration levels is below 1%, the method is considered accurate. This technique allows for the identification and measurement of specific metals at low concentrations owing to its low limits of detection (LOD) and quantitation (LOQ).
