A Descriptive Study to Assess the Knowledge Attitude, Practice and Concerns Regarding Covid 19 Vaccine and its Information Sources Among General Population of Urban Health Centre of SGRD Hospital, Sri Amritsar

Abstract


The SARS CoV-2 virus, which causes the acute respiratory illness coronavirus disease 2019, was initially discovered in late 2019 in Wuhan, China. The disease then spread quickly throughout the nation, and later the entire world had to suffer and expend extra effort by putting various measures in place to manage and avoid the COVID-19 pandemic. 100 participants were recruited for a descriptive study. Data and a socio-demographic profile were used to assess the socio-demographic features of the general population. The general public's knowledge, attitude, practice, and concerns surrounding COVID-19 immunisation were evaluated using a questionnaire. Results showed that (58%) of the population was male and (32%) of the 21–30 age group. (30%) had a household monthly income of Rs. 10,000–20,000; (57%) were skilled individuals; (80%) were married; and (60%) obtained information from social media. Regarding the COVID-19 vaccine, (56%) of the population had average knowledge, (31%) had poor knowledge, and (13%) had good knowledge. Population attitudes regarding COVID- 19 immunisation are positive (62%), whereas negative attitudes are held by (38%).71% of the population had received the COVID-19 vaccine in both doses, 23% had received just one dose, and 7% had not.80% of people expressed good concern, whereas 20% expressed poor concern, about vaccination for COVID-19. According to the study, the general public had an average degree of awareness about, a favourable attitude towards, good behaviour with, and good concern for the COVID-19 vaccine.
