Onepot Multi-component Synthesis, Characterization and Biological Applications of Dicationic Ionic Liquids

Jebha Starling P, Paul Metilda

Abstract

A series of dicationic ionic liquids have been prepared and confirmed with FT-IR, 1H NMR,13C NMR,31P NMR as well as High resolution mass spectroscopy impact technique. The present methodology possesses more advantages such as high yields, simple procedure, short reaction times and mild conditions. All the synthesized compounds were evaluated for their antimicrobial activity based on zone of inhibition. The ionic liquid, 4-butane diaminium NI,NI,NI,N4,N4,N4 hexapropyl dibromide was exhibited remarkable activity against Klebsiella pneumoniae, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus with maximum inhibitory zone. These compounds were further evaluated for their total antioxidant capacity. The total antioxidant capacity was maximum in 1,4-butane diaminium N1,N1,N1,N4,N4,N4hexapropyl dibromide. In addition, the anticancer activity of DILs has been determined using human ovarian cancer cell line SK-OV-3, human prostate cancer cell line DU-145 and human leukemia cancer cell line K-562. The detailed synthesis, characterization, total antioxidant capacity, antimicrobial screening data and anticancer activity details are reported.
