A novel 3-(5-phenyl-3H-1,2,4] dithiazol-3-yl)-4H-chromen-4-one derivatives 16a–d were synthesized and evaluated for antimicrobial activity, i.e., antifungal and antibacterial activities. The in vitro antifungal evaluation revealed that the compounds 16d showed maximum activity against Geotrichum candidum. The compound 16a showed significantly good activity against Candidum tropicalis. The compounds 16b and 16c did not show any significant antifungal activity. The in vitro antibacterial activity showed no significant results against different bacterial strains. It was finally concluded that all the compounds show antifungal activity only.
