Nail Drug Delivery System: The Diagnosis and Treatment of Nail Disorders

Hetal P Patil, Azam z Shaikh, Sumit j. Patel

Abstract

The greatest cutaneous and musculo-skeletal appendage is the nail unit. Due to the clinical symptoms and anatomical makeup of the nail plate, managing nail disorders is a difficult endeavour. Since it provides a far safer and more targeted alternative to traditional oral therapy, topical treatment of nail infections and disorders has become a focal point of nail research during the past few decades. Transungual birth did come with certain difficulties, though. This made it necessary to keep an eye out for cutting-edge methods that improved therapy effectiveness and cut down on treatment duration. This review's objective is to give a general overview of nail architecture and disorders, diagnostic techniques, current treatment paradigms, and innovative treatment paradigms for treating nail infections and disorders using nanocarriers and microemulsion. This analysis also addresses current medical options and medical procedures undergoing clinical trials.
