Evaluation of the Aqueous Alcoholic Extract of Laxmi Taru for Its Anticancer Property: A Review

Simarouba glauca is considered a very valuable medicinal herbal drug used to treat diarrhea and dysentery; hence, its bark is known as dysentery bark. Different parts of the tree treat different ailments. The bark and leaf extract of Laxmi taru (Simarouba glauca) is efficiently known for its anti-helmanthic, anti-parasitic, anti-dysentric, and anti-cancerous properties. Chemotherapy, which is most frequently used to treat cancer and is becoming more prevalent around the world, has drawbacks since it might have adverse effects on healthy or non-cancerous body components. WHO has also said that cancer is the second-most leading cause of death in the world, and researchers worldwide have been looking for herbal anticancer agents for their wholesome and effective role in cancer prevention as well as cure owing to their lesser side effects. Laxmi Taru is one such plant. The current review aims to document studies done on this precious plant demonstrating its anticancer properties.References
