Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis): A Scientometrics Perspective (1989-2018)

Abstract

The study is primarily concerned to analyse the publication trend of literature pertinent to Aloe vera/Aloe barbadensis. To evaluate the research trends of Aloe vera Web of Science database is used to extract the data. It is evident that among the most prolific nations, India (594; 20.42%) leads the other nations in the publication count, followed by USA (446; 15.33%) and then by Iran (214; 7.36%). The literature available by means of open access (800; 27.50%) and that of closed access is about (2109; 72.49%). The main document type is articles (1922; 66%), followed by reviews (244; 9%) and then by proceeding papers (34; 1%). The calculated values of annual growth rate, relative growth rate and doubling time depict notable trends. Moreover, Journal of Pharmacology Pharmacy (1557; 53.43%), followed by Journal of Plant Sciences (1,416; 48.59%) and then Agriculture (1,204; 41.32%) represent the most productive journals in terms of the publication activity. In terms of language priority, English (2,750; 94.37%) dominates the scene, followed by Spanish (131; 4.50%) and then by Korean (59; 2.03%). This study is an attempt to comprehensively map the research trends in Aloe vera literature.
