Abstract

The scope of powder microscopy in the evaluation of homogeneity and uniform dispersal of different herbal powder in the churnum Pesin. Microscopy was performed by Olympus binocular microscope for identification of different diagnostic characters of the ingredients and formulations. Further, the thin layer chromatographic analysis was done by various solvent systems for the ingredients and formulations. The unique characteristic of each herb in the churnum was identified and their relative abundance was ascertained. Further, it was compare with the level of its incorporation as per license. A TLC profiling was also done to check the individual herbal ingredients in the total mix. Powder microscopy can be used as a very dependable, table top, cost effective and quick tool to confirm the quality compliance of the polyherbal churnum and the robustness of the manufacturing process.
