A Review on Pharmacological Activities of Garcinia xanthochymus

Abstract


The present review study was taken to know the pharmacological activities of Garcinia xanthochymus belongs to the family clusiaceae (guttiferae). The common names are Asamkandis, yellow mangostene, gamboges and false mangostene. The plant contains chemical constituents such as flavonoids, phenolic compounds, tannins, saponins, glycosides xanthones etc. On this plant, various pharamacological activities like in-vitro as well as in-vivo studies were previously carried out, here we reviewed on few pharmacological activities such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, antiinflammatory, antidiabetic, cyototoxic, chemo-preventive, NGF-potentiating, antiproliferative, antibacterial, hyphal apoptosis.
