A Review on Aegle Marmelos: A Potential Medicinal Tree

Abstract


Bael, Aegle marmelos (Linn.) Correa ex Roxb., A tree of Indian origin has been known since prehistoric times. It has the significance of a great myth to Hindus. The use of daily life has great nutrition, environment and commercial significance. It has long been used in traditional medicine to treat constipation, diarrhea, diarrhea, peptic ulcer and respiratory infections. Essential therapeutic properties of baelareantidiabetic, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgesic, cardioprotective, antispermatogenic, anticancer and radioprotective. The current review deals with the general and chemical profile and its economic significance including medical and other uses.
