Abstract

Abstract
The study has the objective to formulate and evaluate meloxicam (MLX)-loaded nanoemulgel for topical drug delivery. Nanoemulsion is prepared by spontaneous emulsification technique. Nanoemulgel is prepared by adding nanoemulsion into the gel matrix. The characterization of meloxicam loaded nanoemulgel was performed. The formulations werecharacterized/evaluated for homogenicity, clarity, viscosity, pH, and drug release. In the present investigation, topical gel of MLX was formulated using pectin, polyethylene glycol (PEG), propylene glycol (PPG), liquid paraffin, span 20, etc. Regarding many physicochemical factors including pH, viscosity, and spreadability, MLX gel was assessed. We investigated MLX gel's potential for causing irritation. The permeation of MLX gel was studied using egg membrane. According to ICH requirements, MLX gel underwent three
months of accelerated stability studies. The formulation's results were deemed to be satisfactory. The level of drug use was acceptable. The tablets' drug release mechanism was discovered to be a non- Fickian transport kind of diffusion. In conclusion, meloxicam nanoemulgel is an excellent therapy for
moderate to severe pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis.
