Abstract

Abstract

This article provides an overview on the tablet dosage forms and its benefits as well as disadvantages, the main changes that have taken place in the diagnosis and management of hypertension over the past decade. The approach to the management of hypertension includes necessary life style modifications and step wise escalation process in the pharmaco-therapeutic management thereof. Thiazide diuretics are still being promoted by most guidelines to be the initial (first-line) drug of choice, with the addition other suitable antihypertensive agents, if necessary, and according to any relevant co-morbid conditions. this article also provide a brief description on mechanism of different essential drugs used in the management of hypertension.
