Review of Mercaptoimidazoles as Anti-infective Agents

2-Mercaptoimidazole or imidazol-2-thione is five-membered heterocyclic ring having two nitrogen, same as imidazole and sulphur group attached to it at 2nd position. Imidazol-2-thione and its derivatives shows the biological activities such as antibacterial, fungicidal, antioxidant, antitumor, and antitubercular. In this review we have collected information about the 2-Mercaptoimidazole nucleus and its antimicrobial activity for further research and development.
